The Miles Between
Destiny Faraday makes a point of keeping her distance from her classmates at Hedgebrook Academy. Her number-one rule: Don’t get attached. But one day, unexpectedly finding a car at their disposal, Destiny and three of her classmates embark on an unauthorized road trip.
They’re searching for one fair daya day where the good guy wins and everything adds up to something just and right. Their destination: Langdon, a town that Destiny’s unsuspecting companions hope will hold simply a day of fun. But, as Destiny says, Things are not always what they seem.” Only she knows that Langdon holds far more than thata deep secret she has never shared with anyone.
The Miles Between explores the wonder and magic of a very real world where chance, mystery, and secrets abound.
Deceiver
In today's hardcore scene, it seems that bands are increasingly pressured to subscribe to certain generic standards since the primary thing label's are drawn to is a band's marketability potential. Enter The Miles Between, a five piece metal / hardcore / southern rock straight edge band from Taunton, MA, who are openly revolting against said conventions by playing heavy, groove laden rock with crushing breakdowns and ample two-stepping fast parts. Their brand of metal/hardcore attracted the attention of Alternative Press magazine who featured them as an unsigned band of the month in March of 2006. Their energetic live show landed The Miles Between a spot on last years prestegious New England Metal Hardcore Fest along side such acts as Dragonforce, On Broken Wings (Euglogy Recordings), Twelve Tribes (Ferret Records), and Bloodlined Calligraphy (Facedown Records) as well as Skatefest along side Every Time I Die (Ferret Records), Stretch Arm Strong (Solid State Records) and With Honor (Victory Records) just to name a few. They also caught the eye of Seventh Dagger Records who added them to their roster in the summer of 2006. The Miles Between offer unique and affirmative songs while staying true to an increasingly marginalized straight edge lifestyle.

Vacationing alone in Gatlinburg, Jason Tyler meets photographer Matt, and finds out they have a lot in common, including a plethora of first names. This is a fascinating collection of the correspondence between six Australian women writers written between 1930 and 1957 and unpublished until now. Miles Franklin, Katharine Susannah Prichard, Jean Devanny, Marjorie Barnard, Flora Eldershaw and Eleanor Dark discuss their work, their personal lives and their views of the world in these letters, which were written with the purpose of providing sympathetic support and which bacome a source of friendship. Each of the women was centrally engaged with the social and political issues of her time, and these letters appear as a continuing dialogue written over three decades, from the Depression with its struggles and militancy, the nationalism and chauvinism of the Second World War, through to the conservatism of the Cold War. As non-fictional writing, the correspondence perhaps best articulates the complexity of the women's lives and the clashes between their private and the public worlds in a way which more polished literary genres fail to do.
